Season 1 Episode 10 - The Shelf Life

Harvey is forced to fire an accountant, Stan Jacobson, for falsifying his credentials. However, Mike suspects there is a hidden motive behind Stan's termination, which raises concerns about his own job security. Meanwhile, Louis believes he has found his future wife.

Harvey and Mike are tasked with firing Stan Jacobson, a Senior Vice President at Dreibach Accounting, who has been working for nine years with a fake diploma. Mike sees himself in Stan and faces a difficult choice. At the office, Mike and Rachel's relationship becomes more complicated, while Louis poses a potential threat to Jenny and Mike's relationship.

Mike and Harvey discover that Stan's termination was at the request of Tori, the CEO of Dreibach Accounting, who discovered his fraudulent qualifications. Stan admits that he did attend college but couldn't afford to graduate. Mike points out that Tori knew about the fraud for five years but ignored it because Stan was making the firm money. Further investigation leads Mike and Harvey to uncover questionable financial practices involving Aberdeen Solutions, a company charging Pearson Hardman for undisclosed management services.

After dealing with Tori, Stan hopes to get his job back but Harvey informs him that he won't be rehired due to his fraud. Harvey advises Stan to use the severance package and the money from his independent consultation to support himself until he finds a new job. Stan expresses regret over his actions, prompting Mike to question why Harvey hired him despite knowing about the fraud. Harvey explains that he sets high standards and expects people to meet them. If Mike can't handle the situation, Harvey suggests he is free to leave.

Harvey meets with Jessica and receives her gratitude for his role in stopping Tori's actions. Jessica admits that she will give Mike the benefit of the doubt moving forward. Later, Harvey presents Mike with an ultimatum, giving him the choice to leave if he can't handle the pressure of his secret being exposed.

Meanwhile, Louis reveals to Jenny that Mike and Rachel have been spending late nights together at the firm, causing tension in their relationship. Mike's secret and his involvement with Rachel become sources of concern and uncertainty.
