Season 1 Episode 3 - Inside Track

Harvey and Mike undertake the task of identifying a legal loophole to remove the recently appointed CEO of a motor company. Simultaneously, they aim to persuade one of the company's dedicated employees to assume the role of CEO. Meanwhile, Mike takes charge of organizing the Rookie Dinner and contemplates assisting Trevor with his predicament.

Harvey and Mike assist Dominic in preparing for his speech in the conference room. However, an argument erupts between Harvey and Dominic, prompting Harvey to leave Dominic in Mike's care. Mike engages in a conversation with Dominic about engines, leading to a strong statement for Dominic's speech.

Later that night, Mike and Rachel bond over dinner at a restaurant where Rachel suggests conducting taste tests for Mike's rookie dinner. They acknowledge their different upbringings, with Mike coming from a modest background and Rachel from a wealthy one. Rachel advises Mike to explore new experiences to take his mind off work. Jenny calls, but to avoid ruining the evening, Mike declines the call.

On his way home, Mike receives a suspicious voicemail from Jenny regarding Trevor. Concerned, he visits Trevor to check on him. Mike urges Trevor to stop selling drugs and focus on his computer business. Trevor admits that he never had actual software clients. Mike offers assistance and transition money, but Trevor, unaware of Mike's success as a lawyer, declines, believing he should be helping Mike instead. Their confrontation escalates into an argument about Jenny and ultimately a fight, ending their friendship.

The following morning, Harvey and Mike arrive late to introduce Dominic as a contender for the CEO position on the board. However, Louis had already warned Stensland, resulting in the board meeting being rescheduled earlier, and Stensland had already been voted in. The sale of the company is set to be ratified the next day, and Pearson Hardman, along with Dominic, is fired.

Back at the office, Harvey confronts Louis in front of Jessica about his interaction with Stensland. Surprisingly, Jessica sides with Louis and criticizes Harvey for pursuing a client without informing her. Jessica grants Louis permission to repair the relationship with the company, removes Harvey from the case, and reveals that she had sent Louis to Stensland initially. Harvey realizes that Jessica has different motives depending on which plan succeeds and comes up with a new idea. He instructs Mike to bring Dominic, stating that they can still buy the company regardless of Stensland's CEO position.

They reunite with Laurence at the Javits Center, informing him that the company is up for sale. Laurence, now eager, agrees with Harvey's stance that the engine quality, not the name, is the company's true asset. Harvey introduces Laurence to Dominic to pique his interest.

Harvey interrupts the board meeting held by Louis and Stensland, asserting that Dominic can petition the board as an original employee who was not given the required three-day notice before termination (a lie created by Mike). With Dominic's consent to exercise his petition rights, Harvey informs the board about Laurence's offer of $250 million to purchase the company, surpassing Stensland's deal.

After Mike's commendable work on the case, Harvey is about to praise him when Mike inadvertently ruins the moment by commending himself. Nevertheless, Mike's rookie dinner is successful, and Harvey covers the bill. Devon, who previously mocked Mike, compliments him on the dinner, and Louis instructs Mike to pay his bill, which is substantial due to Louis' purchase of expensive wines. Harvey shares the good news with Jessica, stating that he did it for the firm, and drives off in his Tesla with the saleswoman.

Meanwhile, Mike waits for Jenny outside her apartment. He apologizes and reveals Trevor's ongoing deception, informing her that Trevor is still involved in drug dealing and that Mike has severed ties with him. Mike emphasizes that it is the last time he will betray anyone's trust and urges Jenny not to fall for similar situations again. They share a kiss, but Mike pulls away when Rachel calls, and he rejects the call.
