Season 1 Episode 8 - Identity Crisis

In this episode, Mike faces a threat from the daughter of a businessman who blackmails him to drop the case against her father. Meanwhile, Harvey attempts to resolve the problems caused by Louis's actions. Also, Harvey and Louis find themselves in conflict when their star witness dies unexpectedly.

Harvey and Louis are collaborating on a case involving the misappropriation of funds by a financial manager, who jeopardized the financial projects of their client. Harvey keeps his plan a secret from Louis, but when it's time to depose a key individual with knowledge of the case, Louis intervenes forcefully, leading to the man's untimely death. Now, they must start over, but Louis continues to create obstacles.

Meanwhile, Mike is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a client's money and discovers that the client's rebellious daughter is responsible. Mike confronts her, insisting she return the money. In retaliation, she threatens to expose Mike's secret after conducting a background check on him.

Harvey, known for his preference to work independently, is instructed by Jessica to partner with Louis to save Lucille Jackson's foundation, Stable Shelters, from financial ruin. Their objective is to recover the embezzled money from Anthony Mazlo.

The partnership between Harvey and Louis begins on shaky ground when Louis takes matters into his own hands by deposing Mazlo's subordinate without Harvey's knowledge, inadvertently causing the witness's death from a pulmonary embolism. Louis harbors resentment toward Harvey due to his constant overshadowing, and despite Louis's efforts, things often backfire for him. It is noteworthy that Louis shares some traits with Mike when it comes to trusting others, creating a parallel between the two characters.

On the other hand, Mike finds himself in a challenging situation when Jerome Jensen's daughter, Lola, threatens to expose him as a fraud, discovering that he never attended Harvard and uncovering personal details like his social security number.

Mike seeks Harvey's help, but Harvey dismisses the threat, considering it mere smoke and mirrors. Harvey believes that Lola's intention is to reconcile with her estranged father, as evidenced by her act of stealing $2 million from her father's company under the guise of a fake company called Locksley LLC, with the intention of distributing the funds like Robin Hood.

A comedic moment occurs when Harvey asks Donna about Louis, and she suggests consulting Louis's secretary, Norma. Harvey is left speechless and admits that Norma creeps him out. Donna playfully teases Harvey, calling him a wimp. Norma's unseen presence parallels Mrs. Wolowitz from another show, and it would be interesting for viewers to see Norma's appearance and understand why she unnerves Harvey.

In the end, Lucille recovers her money, and Anthony Mazlo faces the consequences of his actions. Lola also shows mercy to Mike after he assists in reconciling her relationship with her father. Mike enters his information into the Harvard Alumni database, obtaining a legitimate law degree from the renowned university, providing him with a safety net if his secret is exposed.

However, Lola acknowledges that there is still a chance for Mike to be caught as a fraud, suggesting that he should consider returning to school to avoid living with the burden of his secret. The episode concludes with anticipation for what lies ahead for Mike and his secret.
